East Side's Historic Season Ends In Northeast Regional
Old Orchard Beach, ME --- Bedford's Patrick Parker batted 3-for-3 and had a hand in all three runs as Post 54 downed East Side 3-1 at
the American Legion Baseball Northeast Regional on Sunday afternoon. Post 201 completed its season with a program-best 29 wins and
tied for third place in the regional. The 2011 East Side squad (29-10) embarked on the longest post season run in Post 201 history.
Parker got things started with a RBI double to left field in the first inning.
The Raiders responded in the bottom of the frame as Ysander Figueroa drove in a run on a ground out to second base.
East Side's Kyle Brenner and Bedford's Ryan Mossman matched zeros on the scoreboard until Post 54 took the lead in the fifth. Parker's
single to center field allowed the go-ahead tally to score.
In the eighth inning, Parker led off with a double to right field before taking third on a passed ball and reaching home on a throwing
miscue.
Mossman allowed one run - zero earned - on five hits in a complete game victory.
Brenner surrendered three runs on 10 hits and struck out eight batters over eight innings. Bryan Perez gave up one hit and fanned one
batter in the ninth.
The game marked the end of five Raiders' American Legion careers. Perez fittingly completed his run on the mound. The hurler won an
eye-popping 26 games in his time on the squad. Brenner heads to Brandeis University as Mastrototaro continues as a Wyvern at
Quinsigamond Community College. Figueroa enters his sophomore season at Assumption and will be joined by John Boyd this spring.
