Post 201 Suffers Setback in Northeast Regional
Old Orchard Beach, ME --- Matt Ederle batted 2-for-3 and drove in a pair of runs to help push Norwalk, CT to a 3-1 win over East Side
on Friday afternoon in the American Legion Northeast Regional held at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach. As a result, East Side (28-9)
plays Cranston, RI in an elimination game tomorrow morning at 9:30am. Norwalk (28-8) will face Bedford, NH tomorrow night at 7pm.
After leaving the bases loaded in the first inning, Norwalk came out an put up a pair of runs on the second. Kevin Lawrence led off with a
walk and eventually crossed home plate on a wild pitch. Ederle used his first hit to help plate the second run on a single down the right
field line.
Norwalk added to its lead as Ederle picked up another RBI on a single through the left side in the fourth.
East Side picked up a run in the seventh. A two-out double to center field by Steve Flynn brought in the lone Radier run.
Patrick Donohue went the distance for Norwalk scattering six hits and striking out four.
For East Side, John Boyd allowed only five hits over eight innings and fanned nine batters. Ysander Figueroa struck out two in the final
frame.
Along with Ederle, Post 201's Regan Aghdam recorded two hits on the day.
