East Side Advances To The State Tournament

Worcester, MA --- For the fourth time in seven years, No. 3 East Side has earned an invitation to the American Legion Massachusetts
State Tournament by virtue of a 13-1 win against No. 4 Chicopee-Aldenville on Tuesday night at Tivnan Field. According to the state
handbook, Post 201 will open State Tournament play on Saturday at 4:30pm versus South State Sectional Bracket C champion South
Attleboro.  The 2011 Massachusetts State Tournament is at Hudson’s Riverside Park.

Post 337 took an early lead in the first on a hit through the right side by
Joe Perlak.

The Raiders then went on a scoring spree in the bottom of the inning.
Regan Aghdam helped put up the initial Post 201 run on a single to
right center.
Ysander Figueroa smacked a double down the right field line for another tally. With the bases loaded East Side strung
together five singles to score five more times.
Mike Mastrototaro, Nate Frederick, Brandon O'Connor, Bryan Perez and Joey
Consolmagno
each were credited with an RBI. Kyle Brenner highlighted the frame with a bases-clearing 3-RBI triple to right center.
The lineup batted around as Brenner, the cleanup hitter, scored the final tally of the stanza on a wild pitch.

East Side added another run in the third and fourth. Aghdam drove in another run on a single through the left side. A sacrifice fly by
Mastrototaro helped plate the last score of the contest.

John Boyd picks up his fifth win of the season allowing one run on five hits in six innings and striking out 12 batters on the day. Figueroa
gave up a hit in one inning of relief.

John Sypek, Jake Alvaro and Harley Kagan each spent time on the hill for Post 337. The trio faced 35 batters and only issued one walk.

Aghdam accumulated a game-high three hits while producing a pair of RBI. Perez, Consolmagno, Brenner, and Figueroa each had a pair of
hits and two RBI for the Raiders. O'Connor went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Brenner drove in three runs and Mastrototaro
pitched in with two.

Alvaro and Perlak led Chicopee-Aldenville with two hits apiece.
