East Side Advances to Central-Western Mass Sectionals


Worcester, MA --- East Side earned it's eighth trip to the American Legion Baseball Central-Western Mass Sectionals in the past nine
years as Post 201 won District 4's Bracket B with a 7-2 triumph over Framingham on Wednesday night at Tivnan Field. The Raiders open
sectional play on Sunday with a road game versus the second seed from Western Mass at a site and time to be announced.

Framingham lit up the scoreboard twice in the first inning.
Tim Corey connected on a hit to right field to bring in Post 74's initial tally.
The catcher would eventually cross home plate on a wild pitch.

East Side responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame.
Bryan Perez led off with a double down the left field line and touched
home plate following a wild pitch.
Ysander Figueroa flew out to left field to help tie the game with a sacrifice fly.

Kyle Brenner drove in a run on a hit up the middle to give Post 201 a 3-2 lead in the third.

The Raiders tacked on four runs in the fifth.
Joey Consolmagno hit a run-producing-single for the first marker of the inning. Regan
Aghdam
lifted a sacrifice fly to center field to aid another tally. Figueroa launched a home run to right center to cap off the scoring with
the two-run shot.

Steve Flynn scattered two runs - one earned - on four hits and a game-best four strikeouts for East Side. Perez tossed a scoreless seventh
inning.

Post 74's Keelan Smithers allowed five runs on six hits and fanned two batters in 4 1/3. Grant Davis finished the contest surrendering a
pair of runs.

Perez, Consolmagno and Brenner each had a 2-for-3 day at the plate, while Framingham's Kevin Murphy batted 2-for-4. Figueroa
knocked in three runs as Perez and Consolmagno each touched home plate twice.
