East Side Gets By Framingham to Capture Winner's Bracket
Northbridge, MA --- Bryan Perez and Joey Consolmagno strung together two-out doubles in the bottom of the fifth inning to spark
East Side to a 2-1 victory over visiting Framingham in the winner’s bracket championship game of Bracket B of the District 4 playoffs.
Framingham will meet Auburn (a 8-1 winner tonight over West Boylston) tomorrow at 5pm at Tivnan Field at Lake Park with the winner
to face East Side at 7:30pm in the championship game of the double-elimination tournament.
East Side struck first on the bottom of the second beginning with a one-out hit by Ysander Figueroa. A double by John Boyd helped
Figueroa score.
Framingham loaded the bases in the top of the fourth with zero outs to set the stage for Mike Trueblood who found a hole in the left side
to bring in Post 74's lone run. The visitors would leave the bases loaded at the end of the fourth and fifth innings.
The Raiders produced the game-winning run with two outs in the bottom of the fifth on the doubles by Perez and Consolmagno.
Kyle Brenner earned his fourth win of the season scattering eight hits over six innings while giving up one run. Perez tossed a scoreless
seventh inning to pick up a save.
Grant Davis absorbed the loss giving up the two runs on nine hits and a game-high four strikeouts.
Figueroa led all batters with a 3-for-3 outing, including a pair of doubles, as Perez and Framingham's Robert Averill each batted 2-for-3.
As a team, East Side accumulated six doubles in the win.
